A Feather, A Brick, or A Truck. Which Will Be YOUR Wake-up Call?

coaching for women

I talk to a LOT of women socially and professionally. For years, I've listened closely to the language they use in conversation.

"Me time? WHAT is me time? I have 3 kids, a dog, a cat, a career, and a spouse with a full-time job. By the time I feed everyone, schedule all the family's appointments, and drive kids to practices, I just want to crawl into bed. My self-care always takes a back seat."

"I. AM. EXHAUSTED."

"I can't slow down. There is always too much to do."

"It's like I woke up one day and didn't recognize myself. I sensed everyone around me moving swiftly through their lives while I sat still, directionless. I feel so stuck."

"I've tried changing how I eat, I exercise, I am in psychotherapy, and PT and I am still in chronic pain."

If we unpack all these statements, we see a common underlying theme: OVERWHELM. The women I work with are maxed out, rudderless, and tired. Many have lost touch with themselves because they've been conditioned to nurture everyone else before themselves.

These women say "NO" to themselves, often to the point of illness or injury. They work overtime to impress the boss, the client, and ALL the other people in their lives sapping themselves of vital energy.

Can we all just wake up to this truth? You cannot give from an empty cup.

The biggest challenge I see among mid-life, overwhelmed women is that they don't know how to say, "HELL YES!" to themselves.

But oh the magic when one woman does!

My client Barbara knows the power of saying "YES!" One week after our Coaching Discovery Call and paying an activation fee for coaching with me, she had this to say:

Barbara's face was bright and alive within 7 days of committing to her personal growth! Just deciding to hire me as her coach energized her and gave her hope that she would get unstuck. And, she even said an older version of herself might have said "she couldn't afford" coaching.

What is the cost of YOU staying stuck? Of YOU depleting yourself year after year? Of YOU working 80+ hours each week in a job you're just lukewarm about? Of YOU modeling discontent and exhaustion to your kids? Of YOU living a half-assed life when there's so much more?

Rob Dial, host of the Mindset Mentor podcast says that in life we are offered wake-up calls of varying degrees. In order to change our patterns, we can get hit by a feather, a brick, or a truck. Which will you choose?

I've been smacked by all 3 and I've got to tell you, getting hit by a truck (literal or proverbial) hurts like hell. It also costs a lot of money to heal and regroup after that kind of sucker-punch. While I don't regret the trajectory of my life, I do ask myself from time to time, "What if I had set better boundaries 10 years ago? What if I'd learned to pause and let my intuition lead more that my brain? What if I had known then how to align with what was most important? Would I have had the health scares, the injuries, the divorce, the depression, the struggles? What if, what if, what if?"

In the last 5 years, I've committed to living with greater intention and I've invested over $20,000 in my personal and professional growth to help me. Every dollar was money well spent and most of that has paid for my own coaching. Thanks to the support of my coaches, I live in harmony with my core values. I've revamped how I work and how I get paid, fully valuing my worth and time as a holistic healer. I've fortified boundaries in my life and say "yes" to what fills my cup and "no" to what strips my energy. Perhaps the greatest affirmation of my self-care efforts came from my kids, who told me in late 2020 (in the midst of pandemic anxiety and loss) that I "...look less stressed and so much calmer now."

After decades of hustling myself to burnout, my lifestyle now includes abundant open space to enjoy time with my family, savor the gifts of nature, and ignite joy by salsa dancing with friends.

If you are a woman ready to ditch overwhelm and embrace ease, balance, and fulfillment, I invite you to book a Coaching Discovery Call with me. During this call, we'll get crystal clear on where you are now, dream and scheme about where you'd like to be and how you'd like to feel, and, if it feels aligned to work together, I'll share with you how I support women just like you.

Hoping you'll step and up and say "YES!" to yourself!

Love,

Jennifer
